Luxor to Cairo via the Western Desert Discovery Adventure

During the Nineteenth Century it took months to plan and organise an expedition into the Western desert of Egypt. Now today Q.E.A can offer you a week's journey to include some of Luxor's magnificent Temple's and Tomb's camping under the stars with the Bedouin within the Western Desert then culminating in Cairo with the Pyramids of Giza and Saqqara. Let the Adventure Begin...

Day 1: Arrive in Luxor. Check into Hotel, refresh and enjoy the briefing on the following events. Enjoy dinner in a local restaurant close by your Hotel.

Day 2: Depart from Luxor for the Western Desert after refreshments along the way you will arrive at the Bedouin camp in Dakhla, enjoy a relaxing hot spring bath before departing out into the desert on camel back to the nights camp. a traditional evening meal and entertainment will be on offer as you sit around the fire before retiring to sleep under a blanket of stars.

Day 3: After breakfast its a trip in a 4x4 back to base camp and the chance to partake in a shower before its of to Al Qasr a medieval village, deserted and abandoned after centuries of habitation. Then a drive through the desert to Farafra with a picnic stop for lunch and a chance to spend the night once again under the stars.

Day 4: Drive to Crystal Mountain for lunch and exploration before arriving at Bahariyya oasis and a Hotel.

Day 5: Leave Bahariyya and say goodbye to the western desert before arriving at Saqqara to visit the pyramids and the heart of Egyptian pharonic power before heading onto Cairo for the Victoria Hotel and Civilisation. Enjoy your evening with a meal at Khan el Khanlili and a walk through the souk.

Day 6: Visit the Giza Pyramids and Sphinx, the great Pyramid being one of the seventh wonders of the world. After lunch its the famed Egyptian Museum for the afternoon before returning to the hotel to refresh have dinner before catching the over night train* to Luxor

Day 7: Arrive in Luxor early to check into the hotel, there’s no stopping though as its of to the West bank to visit the Valley of the Kings, the awesome Temple of Hatshepsut and Habu Temple famed for its colour.

Day 8: After breakfast there is one last chance to visit Luxor Temple followed by lunch and a chance to say goodbye to Egypt before catching your plane home.

- This trip will be reversed if you are flying into Cairo.
- As our desert adventures you can chose to stay in basic accommodation in settled Bedouin camps or camp out under the stars - this option is not available for day 3 as there is no other option but to camp out.
