Built by Ramses II during the 19th Dynasty. The Rammeseum took 20 years to build and was a statement to the greatness of Ramses. It is home to one of the largest and heaviest statues which would have stood over 60 feet high and weighed nearly 1000 tonnes. It now lies in pieces on the desert floor of the Rammeseum. However the site had been largely destroyed by an earthquake and Nile flooding. But once again it is worth making a visit just to walk around the stones and fallen columns.
